Unlabelled technical sketch of an articulation mechanism
A sheet of pencil sketches, without text or dimensions, outlining an articulated mechanical part seen from the front — probably a preparatory study for a transmission whose exact function remains uncertain.

Understanding this document
In this document
This page p. 42 contains no text or dimensions — no legend, no title, no annotation. It is limited to a technical pencil sketch representing, from the front, an articulated mechanical part.
Description of the sketch
One can distinguish:
- at the top, a circle surmounting a vertical rod, itself pierced by a second circle — two points that evoke articulation axes;
- a thin horizontal rod extending from this axis to the right, up to the edge of the drawn area;
- the vertical rod which widens into a U-shaped or fork-shaped piece, whose two branches end in vertical hatched arms (the hatching suggesting a cross-section or material texture);
- between the branches of this fork, a triangular or diamond-shaped piece which descends to a central point marked with a cross, itself connected to a small oblique arm bearing a circle at its upper right extremity;
- finally, thin oblique lines crossing the whole, which seem to be construction or axis lines.
No dimensions or scale indications accompany the drawing p. 42.
Context
This type of free sketch, without legend or dimensions, is characteristic of an engineer's preliminary reflection stages: one puts a mechanism idea on paper before formalising it into a dimensioned plan intended for the workshop or the design office.
At Citroën, in Paul Magès' workshop, this kind of graphic research often accompanied the development of transmission, articulation, or mechanical linkage systems — without it being possible, at this stage and without further clues, to link this specific sketch to a known system (such as the hydropneumatic suspension or a synchronisation mechanism).
Archivist's perspective
The total absence of text makes the identification of the exact function of this part very uncertain: it could be a study of a transmission, lever, or articulation, but nothing in the document allows this to be confirmed.
The presence of oblique construction lines and several articulated axes p. 42 probably suggests kinematic research work — Magès exploring the degrees of freedom of a mechanism before fixing its dimensions.
This sheet could belong to the same vein of exploratory sketches found in the oil reservoir sketch: needle, seals and mounting, where unlabelled drawings precede more advanced and dimensioned versions. Without additional textual elements, any more precise connection with other documents in the file remains, however, speculative.
