Context

Outside the document, it is known that Citroën distributed periodic press reviews internally to keep its engineers informed of the competition and innovations in the sector. The DS 19, for which an article is mentioned, was then the brand's showcase model, equipped with the hydropneumatic suspension developed by Paul Magès. The publication dates of the cited articles (June-July 1963) suggest that this press review, although not explicitly dated, dates from around September 1963.

Archivist's perspective

This sheet is not a technical document produced by Magès himself, but a monitoring tool that was sent to him within the BEA (Automotive Design Office). It illustrates how the engineer remained informed of the competition's developments — suspensions, engines, safety — likely to fuel his thinking.

The indication of the publication dates of the articles (June-July 1963) allows for a more precise dating than "undated": the review itself seems to correspond to September 1963, consistent with its title p. 38.

This type of document takes on its full meaning when placed in the larger file where it was kept, particularly alongside more technical pieces such as the Résumé de séance BBC du 22 février 1962 or the Notes de Paul Magès sur l'embrayage et la commande des vitesses de la DS, which show Magès' concrete work in parallel with this documentary monitoring.
