List of technical journals for reading — page 2 (January 1959)
Second sheet of a Citroën list of technical journals to be read in January 1959, with precise references to articles on shock absorbers, industrial hydraulics, and braking.

Understanding this document
In this document
This sheet is page 2 of a Citroën technical journal review form, dated January 1959 (handwritten/printed "No2" mention in the header).
Journals surveyed
Three publications are listed with their article page numbers to be consulted:
| Journal | Number / date | Article | Referenced page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto-Course | January 1959 | GIRLING shock absorbers | p. 10 |
| Auto-Course | January 1959 | Study of the CHEVROLET W engine | p. 36 |
| Applied Hydraulics | December 1958 | Three hydraulic controls on a military truck | p. 72 |
| Applied Hydraulics | December 1958 | Mounting of 4 hydraulic motors on a lift | p. 88 |
| Motor Transport | 9/1/59 | High-performance brake (DON BRAKE) | p. 19 |
p. 39
A "MODIF." mention appears at the bottom of the page, without legible development p. 39.
The document also bears material marks without informative content: an ink stain and small handwritten annotations (dot, oblique line) in the margins, as well as printed register ruling p. 39.
Context
At the end of the 1950s, major automobile manufacturers and equipment suppliers carried out systematic technical monitoring of the international specialized press — here Auto-Course (competition), Applied Hydraulics (industrial hydraulic technique), and Motor Transport (commercial vehicles).
This type of survey allowed engineers to identify, without reading the entirety of the journals, the articles useful for their ongoing projects. At Citroën, in 1959, Paul Magès' team was notably developing the hydropneumatic suspension and the power braking circuits of the DS, which makes an interest in the subjects of "shock absorbers", "hydraulics", and "brakes" plausible.
Archivist's perspective
This sheet belongs to a series of documentary monitoring rather than a design piece: it does not provide information on a specific Citroën device, but illustrates a work practice — the methodical monitoring of the technical press by a design office.
Its interest lies mainly in the juxtaposition of the subjects noted: shock absorbers, industrial hydraulics, and high-performance braking, themes that probably overlap with the concerns of the hydraulic department during this same period, as evidenced by other documents in the file devoted to the DS high-pressure pump or to the hydraulic components worked on at the same time.
The "MODIF." mention, not developed here, suggests that processing or follow-up (file modification, transmission) was planned, without it being possible to specify the nature of it from this single page.
